ST. LOUIS (First Alert 4) - A 21-year-old will serve time for shooting and killing a man in South City on Christmas Eve in 2023.
Keon Cannady is charged with first-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. He was sentenced Tuesday to 25 years in prison.
Police responded to the 900 block of Talmage just before 3:20 a.m., where they found a man shot in the chest inside a residence.
Surveillance video showed that after Cannady was asked to leave the house, he pulled out a gun and shot the victim in front of his house and ran off.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Shawn Kennedy, 20, of Ferguson.
