RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - A contractor has died following an incident on Eastern Kentucky University’s campus.

EKU officials confirmed that the individual was performing work on Tuesday on the Richmond campus when the fatal incident occurred.

“Our thoughts are with the individual’s family, friends and colleagues,” the campus said in a statement.

No additional details about the person’s identity or how the incident happened have been released. EKU officials say they are withholding further comment out of respect for the family and because the cause of death remains under investigation.
