KALAMAZOO, MI — Part of Kalamazoo Avenue will close Wednesday, Oct. 1, while crews remove the metal lattice and signs spanning the roadway.

The green and white signs over Kalamazoo Avenue between North Westnedge Avenue and North Park Street direct drivers to West Main, South Haven, Benton Harbor and Three Rivers.

The street is expected to reopen Thursday, Oct. 2, per a city press release.

Drivers will follow a detour around the area, shown in the map below.

The city plans to begin work on the two-way conversion of Kalamazoo Avenue in 2026. This part of the road will see reconstruction in 2027, per the city’s website .
