GADSDEN COUNTY, Fla. (WCTV) - A man who the Gadsden County Sheriff’s Office said escaped custody while in cuffs Monday has been captured, according to the sheriff’s office.
In a social media post just before 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, GCSO said it has " negotiated a surrender of Cedric Butler, who fled from the courthouse premises" on Monday.
As a result, deputies said Butler has been booked into the Gadsden County Jail on escape charges in addition to charges he was already facing.
The capture of Butler comes a day after Gadsden County authorities initiated a manhunt for him . Just moments before Butler escaped on Monday, he “was not in custody but reported to court on charges, just before running from the deputy upon transport after the judge remanded him to custody.”
