MONROEVILLE, Pa. —

Ashley (Helen) Burdette, a first-grade teacher at Ramsey Elementary in the Gateway School District, has been named "WTAE Teacher of the Month" for September.

The recognition comes as part of a program by Pittsburgh's Action News 4, which highlights outstanding educators in the area.

Burdette received a $1,000 donation from Closets by Design to use on the educational website DonorsChoose.org.
