KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Voters across Jackson County on Tuesday are deciding whether to recall Frank White, Jr, as county executive.

Polls are open in Kansas City and Jackson County now until 7 p.m. for the special recall election.

Shawn Kieffer with the Kansas City Election Board said Tuesday morning that voter turnout has been slow so far. If it keeps at this pace, turnout will be less than 10%.

White is facing a recall after frustrations from Jackson County residents over increased property taxes and the failed stadium tax vote in 2024 that would have paid for a new downtown ballpark for the Royals and renovations at Arrowhead Stadium.

If a majority of voters choose to recall White, the county executive position would immediately become vacant, and the chair of the Jackson County Legisl
