A building permit has been issued for a new Live Nation performance venue in Portland’s Central Eastside, moving the long-contested project closer to reality. The permit authorizes construction of a two-story building at 1211 S.E. Water Ave., according to a report from the Portland Business Journal. Members of the development team include Colas Construction, Beam Development and designer Lever Architecture.

The three-story structure will rise on a vacant site at Southeast Main Street and Water Avenue, just north of the Hawthorne Bridge. The 62,000-square-foot facility, designed by Lever Architecture, will feature 1,280 fixed seats with standing room to accommodate up to 3,500 spectators, making it Portland’s largest indoor concert venue.
