Oklahoma wide receiver Javonnie Gibson is set to make his return after more than five months away, and the Sooners believe his presence could give their offense another weapon.

Offensive coordinator Ben Arbuckle said Gibson’s determination and steady approach through rehab have stood out.

“First thing with Javonnie, I’m excited for him personally because the kid loves football and he loves being around the team,” Arbuckle said. “You could tell it really kind of took a lot on him, but he’s very mature. He handles his business well. He’s been awesome these last few weeks — running at practice, getting extra catches in, getting great mental reps. I think he’s a big-time playmaker, I really do. We just gotta get his football legs back under him.”
