The Indiana nonprofit Count US IN announced today that it has filed a public records request seeking written correspondence between the White House and Gov. Mike Braun’s office regarding mid-decade redistricting.
The request was filed under Indiana’s Access to Public Records Act.
A news release said the request covers communications between Aug. 1 and Sept. 26 and specifically asks for records that reference federally funded programs, initiatives, projects or pending waivers that may have been tied to Indiana’s compliance with a map redraw.
The request "seeks to ensure that Hoosiers have access to information about whether federal resources are being used as political leverage in decisions about Indiana’s congressional boundaries," the news release said.
