UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – Trader Joe’s is opening a fourth store in Northeast Ohio. The newest location will be in the Gateway North project at John Carroll University.

The national chain of small grocery stores recently filed plans with the University Heights building department for a store that will open in fall 2026, according to Mike Cook, the city’s director of communications and civic engagement.

“The mayor is a big fan of their store. Residents love the one in Woodmere and are excited to see it here,” said Cook. He noted that Trader Joe’s chose University Heights as a good location.
