TOLEDO, Ohio — A U.S. Court of Appeals ruled in favor of the Monroe County Sheriff's Office earlier this month, after a local towing company filed suit against the agency claiming unlawful search.
Rockwood Auto & Towing, located in South Rockwood on Armstrong Road, filed suit against the sheriff's office - specifically against Sheriff Troy Goodnough and Deputy Michael Preadmore - on March 25, 2022. The company claimed the sheriff's office had conducted an unlawful search of its property as part of an inventory audit of the sheriff's office's vehicles and equipment.
The company also made in the lawsuit an assertion that the Monroe County Sheriff's Office had made changes to its non-preference towing list that violated the business's equal protection rights.
