A Morris County teacher has been arrested for the alleged sexual assault of a teenage student, authorities said.

William Arnold, 53, of Wayne, was charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, official misconduct, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal sexual contact, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office stated in a press release Sept. 30.

Earlier in September, the prosecutor's office and Pequannock police were notified of alleged inappropriate behavior by a teacher at Pequannock High School. According to the prosecutor's office Arnold sexually assaulted the victim, one of his students, on multiple occasions over the past year when the teenager was 15 and 16 years old.
