The Barrington High School football team fell to 2-2 after losing to Central 37-21 in Providence on Friday night, Sept. 26.

The Eagles held an 8-7 lead in the first half, but struggled to slow down the Knights’ offense. By halftime, Barrington trailed 24-8, said BHS Coach Sandy Gorham.

“Their speed was outstanding. And we just… in the beginning, we weren’t ready for their speed. I think we prepared a little more for the passing game, but they gouged us in the run game,” Gorham said.

Barrington also struggled with tackling, said the coach.

“It’s just … we work on tackling every week. We’ve just got to do a better job,” he said. “You can be a hammer or a nail — accept the blow or deliver the blow. On defense… we seem to accept the blow. You’ve got to step into it. We’ve got to be a littl
