HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Texas Veterans Commission (TVC) on Tuesday presented $4,325,000 in grants to 14 organizations to support services for veterans and their families in South Texas, Coastal Bend, and Harlingen.
The grants, part of TVC's Fund for Veterans' Assistance, aim to provide services to an estimated 2,170 veterans across a 19-county region. The funding will support a variety of services, including financial assistance, housing, peer support, and skill-based training.
The grants include $300,000 for financial assistance in Cameron County, $400,000 for financial assistance in the city of Harlingen, and $500,000 for Housing for Texas Heroes in Harlingen. Other recipients include the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coastal Bend, CPLC Texas, and Goodwill Industries
