The Dearborn Police Department is stepping up security at houses of worship after the deadly church attack in Grand Blanc Township on Sunday, Sept. 28.
"In the wake of the tragic shooting in Grand Blanc Township, the Dearborn Police Department is taking additional steps to protect our community," Chief Issa Shahin said in a statement posted to social media on Tuesday, Sept. 30. "The department is increasing patrols and maintaining a heightened visible presence at all houses of worship."
Shahin urged residents to remain vigilant, be mindful of their surroundings and immediately report suspicious activity to police.
The chief said the department actively monitors and investigates threats, including those on social media, and is working with local, state and federal partners to provide "
