What started as a celebration for a group of volunteers who refurbished the tennis courts behind the Eastpointe Military Museum turned into an annual tournament that was held for the third time on Sept. 27.
“All skill levels are welcome at the Military Museum Tennis Tournament,” said tournament organizer and local tennis guru Al Truhan. “This is about getting out and playing in a tournament – even if you’ve never been in one before – and having fun.”
Pairs for the doubles tournament are picked at random and reshuffled for each of the three rounds. That gives players a chance to meet other people who love tennis and get comfortable sharing the court with different people.
“We have people here from Moscow, from Ukraine, and we have one of our volunteers who is from Macedonia,” said Truhan
