NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) — The city of Norfolk is preparing for another snowy winter.

"We'll always be prepared," said Deshawn Lewis, Equipment Operator III. "There's nothing wrong with extra training."

It's been seven months since Hampton Roads had a big snow, and it's time to start preparing for the next, as Norfolk's Public Works Department spends time training with snowplows ahead of the coming winter.

"We want to get the staff back on these plows just to refamiliarize themselves with it or to start to learn that equipment," said Alana Smith with the Norfolk Public Works Department. "In the instance that we do get a snow event, that is not the time to figure out how to operate a snow plow."
