MADISON (WKOW) — A court order has been secured by Attorney General Josh Kaul and a coalition of states to protect federal funding for Wisconsin's energy programs.

The funding aims to help residents and municipalities save energy and improve resilience, according to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice.

In August, Wisconsin joined a lawsuit against a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) policy that capped reimbursement for indirect and fringe costs at 10 percent. The coalition argued this policy violated federal law and threatened states' ability to administer federally-funded programs. The court ruled DOE's cap was unlawful.
