27-year-old killed in two-vehicle crash in Monroe County

MONROE, Mich. — A woman from Monroe died in a two-vehicle crash near the city's mall Tuesday afternoon, according to the county sheriff's office.

Cloe Klatt, 27, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash by North Monroe Street and Mall Road. The other driver, a 51-year-old woman from Monroe, was taken to the hospital, and her condition is listed as stable without further details.

The sheriff's office said the 51-year-old was driving an SUV south on Monroe Street when she hit Klatt, who was turning left in a sedan onto Mall Road from northbound Monroe Street, around 2:30 p.m.

Klatt was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the other driver was, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office says alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
