WALDORF, Md. — A Waldorf man was drunk with a 7-year-old child in his Camaro when he rear-ended a school bus carrying a junior varsity football team Monday night, according to the Charles County Sheriff's Office.

The players’ injuries were not life-threatening, according to officers.

The child in 32-year-old Wayne Coffren’s car was unrestrained, and two Westlake High School football players were taken to a local hospital as a result of the crash.

Police say Coffren “showed signs of impairment” at the scene. The child was sent home with a family member.

Coffren was charged with an array of crimes and infractions, including driving while impaired, driving while impaired with a minor, reckless driving, speed greater than reasonable, and failure to restrain a child in a car seat.
