WASHINGTON — As a government shutdown looms , President Donald Trump sent out a warning to his Democratic rivals in Congress on Tuesday.
“We can do things during the shutdown that are irreversible that’re bad for them and irreversible by them. Like cutting vast numbers of people out, cutting things that they like, cutting programs that they like,” Trump threatened.
However, Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich says these jobs would be lost no matter what.
“All those jobs are gone anyway,” Elrich argues. “Those jobs are not in the budget that Trump is trying to pass. So even if Democrats went back into session, unless they come back with guarantees of more funding for NIH, more funding for government programs, all the jobs tied to that are gone…I think Democrats need to make the poi
