MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WKRN) — Murfreesboro City Schools recognized their post-pandemic success and plans for growth at Tuesday morning’s State of the Schools address.

The district said they've recorded their highest math scores since the pandemic — outperforming the rest of the state by more than 5.5%. The district also reportedly saw a steady decrease in chronic absenteeism and gains in their English as a Second Language program.

"We just want to make sure every child is taken care of, every student is prepared for the future, and we're together as a district to make sure that happens,” Dr. Trey Duke, Director of Murfreesboro City Schools, told News 2.

As of publication, MCS serves more than 9,000 students across 13 schools and 15 campuses. ESL students make up 17% of the total student
