TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - Vandals struck the Tallahassee Salvation Army in the early hours of Sept. 24, breaking through the back fence and causing thousands of dollars in damage .

The thieves cut out and stole copper pipes, shutting down the Salvation Army’s coolers and freezers, and leaving families without much-needed food.

Lieutenant Omar Lugo, an officer and pastor at The Salvation Army of Tallahassee, said volunteers and employees are discouraged because they cannot assist the community like they were able to previously.
