FOXBOROUGH, Mass. —
A Foxborough police officer is being heralded as a hero following a dramatic rescue back in July.
Patrolman Brendan Fayles was commended for his efforts during a "life-threatening incident" on July 25, 2025, when a vehicle crashed into a South Street home and caught fire, according to Foxborough police.
Body camera video shows Fayles smashing the car's window with a hatchet and dragging the injured driver to safety just moments before the car burst into flames.
"Patrolman Fayles’ quick response, presence of mind, and heroic efforts directly contributed to saving the life of the accident victim," police wrote in a social media post.
