WASHINGTON, Iowa (KCRG) - A free music therapy club in Washington is working to help middle school girls have a safe space to learn music and to connect with others.

Adrian Green is a seventh grader in Washington.

She said she’s always been musical, but last year she joined ‘For the Girls’ and started learning how to play the guitar.

“It makes me a lot happier when I can just kind of clear my mind and just like learn songs that I want,” said Adrian.

The music therapy group at The Joy of Music in Washington is now offering the ‘For the Girls’ club for free to work with middle school-aged girls in the area.

A place to share and learn music, and healthy ways to regulate big emotions that are often felt at that age.
