TOLEDO, Ohio — George Williams is the founding pastor at CityLight Church in Toledo. After leading Sunday service this past weekend, he checked his phone and saw the heartbreaking news.
"It's hard when you see the actual videos of these things happening," he said. "Hits the soul differently."
The attack on the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan on Sunday left five dead, including the shooter, and eight others injured. Williams said as a pastor, the attack hits too close to home.
"It makes me think that I want to be more certain that I'm able to protect them as they find community here," Williams said.
He said he wants worshippers to still feel safe coming together in community, but when it comes to safety, he said it's a fine line between overprotect
