ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Shelter Care Ministries, a local nonprofit organization, is celebrating its 40th anniversary next week with a fundraiser at the Rockford Country Club.

Shelter Care provides support for people living with chronic mental illness and families experiencing homelessness through various housing programs and the Jubilee Center, a daytime drop-in center offering services and social activities.

"We provide housing for people experiencing homelessness," said Sarah Parker Scanlon, executive director of Shelter Care. "We have a number of different housing programs, short and long-term housing."
