WILSON COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Wilson County Schools leaders are looking to expand weapons detection systems across the district.

It's a goal the school board is aiming to achieve over the next five years.

News 2 went to Barry Tatum Academy in Wilson County where students and staff walk through a weapons detection system every day.

“This is a permanent fixture here, but we do have a second unit that roves throughout the remainder of the high schools,” Wilson County Schools Public Information Officer Bart Baker said.

Meanwhile, at Mt. Juliet High School, students are also walking through a detection system. The machines rotate throughout the high schools.

But now the school board is considering making them permanent and expanding to all schools.
