The Celina Police Department has launched its Guardian Lockbox Program, designed to reduce hassle and damage when responding to the homes of seniors during an emergency.

Participants must agree to provide a spare house key to the police department. According to Celina police, only sworn personnel would have the combination and access to the lockbox.

“It's to look over our elderly people that live here in the city,” said John Cullison, Celina Chief of Police. “So, it allows us an opportunity in case there's an emergency -an exigent circumstance- where we need to make entry into a house, medical call, or an emergency. Anything of that sort.”

The program is free; however, an application must be filled out online .
