MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia’s first trip to BYU comes on a short week in a matchup with a nationally-ranked and unbeaten Cougars’ team directly after the Mountaineers were handled in each of their first two games in Big 12 play.

Doesn’t exactly come across as a setup for success for WVU, which has scored three first-half points and been outscored 89-24 over two league games.

“We need to play,” West Virginia head coach Rich Rodriguez said. “Try to learn from what we did in our last game, which wasn’t good, and get ready to play a top 25 team on the road.”

BYU (4-0, 1-0) enters ranked No. 23 after pulling out a 24-21 victory at Colorado last Saturday.
