SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The South Bend International Airport is celebrating the completion of a $105 million project.

The project realigned a taxiway and lowered the terminal ramp.

Prior to this project, a mainline aircraft could only park at two gates. But with the completion of this project, mainline aircrafts and larger regional jets can utilize any gate available.

These changes were done to accommodate the growth of the airport.

“The end result is more people come to our community, and that’s a real plus for us on the economic side,” said Jeff Rea, president and CEO of the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce.

Rea says the completion of the project sets the airport up for future growth.
