The South South Coast District Cricket Association has suffered a major setback ahead of the 2025-26 season's start.
The Albion Park Rail Cricket Club (APRCC) has defected from the South Coast competition, moving to Cricket Illawarra competitions starting as early as the first weekend of October.
While first, second and third grade will play in Illawarra, the club's junior teams will still compete in South Coast-run competitions.
Not using the name The Rail was one of the sacrifices the club had to make to play in the Cricket Illawarra-sanctioned competitions.
Albion Park Rail Cricket Club president Simon Pearse said these were, unfortunately, the changes needed to get the club into the Illawarra.
SCDCA initially knocked back the Razorbacks' request to leave.
