HINCKLEY — Junior Jonathan Cowell ran a second-place 16:50.8 to lead the Brainerd Warriors boys to the team championship Tuesday, Sept. 30, in the Hinckley-Finlayson Invite at Grand National Golf Club.

Nolan Kalthoff ran a 17:31.1 to place eighth. Eli Kotsmith cracked the top 10 with his 10th-place 17:36.6. Mullen Bratney finished 18th and Kaiden Raske 23rd for Brainerd’s 61 team points, which was 12 points better than second-place Hibbing.

Briana Blasing’s seventh-place 21:14.1 led the Brainerd girls to fourth place. Seventh-grader Audreanna Hines placed 18th. Danika Ramler finished 21st, followed by Inga Auel in 25th and Maev Storbakken in 32nd for the Warriors’ 101 team points.

This is Brainerd’s first time competing in this event, which means Cowell and Blasing hold the school recor
