A decades-old garden oasis in South Fort Worth is at the center of a growing battle, after the City Council approved zoning changes Tuesday that pave the way for a massive, 450-acre data center complex next door.

“It’s just so quiet and peaceful,” said Sue Weston, owner of Weston Gardens in south Fort Worth.

It’s been a labor of love for her and her late husband.

“We just always wanted to work together, so we just quit our jobs one day and started saying, ‘Well, what makes us happy?’”

The answer was gardening and teaching others about plants.

It took them decades to cultivate their dream of a peaceful space, open to all.
