WOODBINE, Ga. — The Camden County Board of Commissioners is reconsidering its plan to raise property taxes after strong pushback from residents during two public hearings on Tuesday.
In a statement released on Tuesday evening, commissioners announced that they are now considering adopting the rollback rate, rather than proceeding with the proposed 18.2% millage rate increase.
“Commissioners will carefully review every possible option to identify additional funding sources or, when necessary, postpone projects in order to shield taxpayers," the statement read.
The board also acknowledged the need to rebuild trust and improve communication with the community members, asking citizens to share how they prefer to receive county information. Feedback can be submitted online .
