JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Transportation Authority announced on Tuesday plans to implement a new contactless payment system for the NAVI autonomous shuttle.

Starting Wednesday, Oct. 1, riders will have the option to tap their payment cards or mobile wallets without making any contact. Each ride will stay at a fixed-route service fare of $1.75.

The new system aims to provide a "quick and easy" ride through downtown Jacksonville.
