OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEHT) -- First responders took part in a training exercise today where an explosion happened on a plane.
The Owensboro-Daviess County Regional Airport disaster simulation is a required training that happens once every three years. Although situations like these may not happen at this airport, Davies County Sheriff Brad Youngman says that it’s best to be prepared.
"It's not gonna be the same thing over and over again, so the idea is gonna be to come up with scenarios that sort of test us, but also allow us to engage the different resources we have,” says Youngman. “Of course, we will always hope that something big doesn't happen, but you know the idea is to be ready if it does."
The training consists of first responders from multiple agencies to test how quick and respons
