MASON, Mich. (WILX) - A burn ban has been issued for three communities in Mid-Michigan.

Mason, Vevay Township and Aurelius Township will be under a burn ban beginning Wednesday, Oct. 1.

No outdoor burning such as campfires, fire pits, burning brush, or other ash-producing burning will be allowed.

All burn permits will be recalled and no new permits will be reissued.

Rainfall will not reverse the decision.

The order comes amid a dry period in Mid-Michigan.

Officials have not announced an end date.
