Washington — Retired Ford Motor Co. engineer Don Ufford said Tuesday that his campaign for an Oakland County congressional seat raised about $350,000 since launching a month ago.
Ufford, a Democrat from Bloomfield Township, previously announced a quick $220,000 haul in the first 24 hours after launching his campaign in late August. The updated total suggests a slowdown since then, but Ufford said it still signals a competitive challenge to state Sen. Jeremy Moss of Southfield in a Democratic primary for Michigan's solidly blue 11th U.S. House District.
"The early momentum we’ve built shows that our message is resonating and that we have the resources to win," Ufford said in a statement. His campaign said none of the donations came from political action committees or self-funding.
