WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Waukesha is looking at a new way to pay for basic services, and they're looking in your garbage and recycling.
Tuesday night, city leaders reviewed a plan to charge households $160 a year-- money that would go straight toward pickup and disposal.
They say it would free up tax dollars for public safety, public works, and community programs, and could even lower property taxes. But some residents pushed back, worried about how the fee would be implemented and calling it a slippery slope.
The proposal now heads to the Common Council for a vote on Oct. 7.
