PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Rhode Island Attorney General Peter Neronha is backing Gov. Dan McKee's decision to withhold the release of a forensic audit on the Washington Bridge.
The McKee administration had refused to release the 64-page audit for more than a year citing the pending litigation over the failed westbound side the bridge, which the Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) abruptly closed back in December 2023.
On Tuesday, Neronha explained why he decided to release the full report last week, citing concerns that the documents might be manipulated as they began to leak online. 12 News had obtained and independently confirmed the authenticity of the audit before Neronha posted it in full.
