WESTERLY, R.I. (WPRI) — A 63-year-old Westerly man died after he was pulled from the water Tuesday evening.
Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella told 12 News first responders were called to the water off Niantic Avenue for reports of a distressed swimmer.
First responders rescued the man, who Gingerella estimated was about 40 yards from the shore, and rushed him to Westerly Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
No foul play is suspected at this time.
