The Des Moines School Board placed Ian Roberts on unpaid administrative leave after the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners revoked his adminstrative license on Sept. 28.

The Des Moines School Board accepted Superintendent Ian Roberts' resignation during a special meeting hours after his attorneys announced he would be stepping down from the district's top job following his arrest by U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agents.

The board's unanimous vote Tuesday, Sept. 30, came during a special meeting that it called the day prior to discuss whether to terminate Roberts' employment contract .
