PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Autumn weather is just getting started as Portland prepares for cooler, rainy, and darker weather to return this October.
Portland's expected to feel cooler autumn conditions and the return of wet weather as October gets underway. A near 10-15 degree temperature drop is expected with Portland's average daytime highs throughout the month.
These cooler average highs, overnight lows and increased precipitation come at a time when Portland loses 91 minutes of daylight. It's this combination that helps jumpstart Pacific Northwest trees into putting on a display of color. The peak fall foliage is typically seen along the Willamette Valley in the month of October.
