SALT LAKE CITY — Utah Gov. Spencer J. Cox ordered the U.S. flag and the Utah state flag to be flown at half-staff at all state facilities to honor President Russell M. Nelson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

According to a news release from the governor’s office, flags located at government buildings across the state of Utah should be lowered to the half-staff position beginning at sunrise on Tuesday, Oct. 7. The flags will remain at half-staff until sunset to honor the date of President Nelson’s funeral.

“The governor invites all private citizens, businesses, and other organizations to participate in this recognition,” the press release stated.
