Hiring external companies that use HSE facilities to cut waiting lists now a ‘last resort’

The use of external companies to treat public waiting list patients using HSE-owned facilities should only be a “last resort” after a review found they were paid €91m over a 27-month period, the Oireachtas Health Committee will be told today.

HSE chief Bernard Gloster will appear before the committee to give an update over the use of these companies to reduce waiting lists.
