Struggling Bollywood supporting actor Vishal Brahma was caught by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) at Chennai airport with methaqualone, illegally as a recreational drug, worth Rs 40 crore.

Vishal, originally from Assam, boarded AI 347 to Singapore and then returned to Chennai, where the DRI intercepted him with the contraband. Sources revealed that he was roped in by a Nigerian gang.

In need of money, Vishal was reportedly lured to travel to Cambodia for holidays, but on his return, he was instructed to carry a trolley bag containing the drugs.

The investigation is expected to expand as authorities aim to apprehend the Nigerian gang behind the operation. Vishal Brahma has acted in a 2019 Bollywood film, reportedly in a supporting role in Student of the Year.
