The 2026 Toyota LandCruiser FJ – an all-new ‘baby LandCruiser’ that’s expected to compete with the likes of the Suzuki Jimny and Renault Duster – is edging closer to its official unveiling.

Previewed as the Toyota Compact Cruiser EV concept back in 2022 (pictured above), the production version was revealed in patent images unearthed in June 2025, revealing a small, boxy five-door SUV featuring design cues borrowed from the discontinued FJ Cruiser and other LandCruiser models throughout the nameplate’s history.

It now appears the LandCruiser FJ will launch in Japan in the second quarter of 2026, and the compact off-roader will be powered by a 2.7-litre non-turbo four-cylinder petrol engine, according to local publication Creative311.
