JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. – Johnson County Coroner Mike Pruitt is back on the job after a 30-day leave of absence.

Several of his coworkers won’t be there when he comes back. Five deputy coroners, including the chief deputy coroner, submitted their resignations and will not return.

The move leaves eight part-time deputy coroners at the office, along with Pruitt and an administrative employee.

The employees who resigned expressed concerns about accusations surrounding Pruitt, who’s at the center of an Indiana State Police investigation. They don’t believe he should return to his job as Johnson County coroner under the circumstances.

One of those employees, the former chief deputy coroner, released the following statement:
