Let’s check in on the New Jersey governor’s race.

There is Democrat Mikie Sherrill’s most recent television ad, accusing President Donald Trump’s administration of conspiring with Republican rival Jack Ciattarelli to release a mostly unredacted file of her military personnel records.

“Despicable. They broke the law to attack a veteran," the narrator intones. “Just think what Jack Ciattarelli might do to you.”

But Ciattarelli is focusing on a different set of records involving Sherrill’s career: the academic and disciplinary records that detail her role in a massive cheating scandal when she was an undergraduate at the U.S. Naval Academy in the early 1990s.
